I think Utopia is alittle soft with less sharpness than wilson , I have no idea but maybe one of the reasons is internal wiring of utopia.personally i prefer wilson but in this level of difference maybe choosing right cable and upstream help compensa...

R,
I note you calimed a fondness for certain softdomes; looks like there are some newer scanspeaks that may have the tonal qualities of your favoured types but with higher sensitivity, which will match the Focal well.
Eg: D2904 types at

I plan to attach tweeter in a place of the lense to bellows (I hope thats correct term) used in macro -photograpfhy .They look sturdy enough and should provide 10cm of fine ,easy adjustment and I can buy them cheap ($10) on any photo show. ...

Referring to my very recent acceptance of the 6E6P as a tetrode to drive the tweeter:

I decided to today to stick my beloved 7721/D3A in place of the 6E6P – thanks God they have the same pins l...

There are many threads on my site where I covered the subjects of Tweeter for my Macondo and particularly the moment of integration the tweeters with Vitavox S2 compression driver. Since a few months ago I altered my idea to use the EV T-350 tweeter ...

There is a German company called Expolinear ,wchich started to make ribbon tweeters based on bulgarian research .They make model RT7 pro with neodymium magnet and 100 dB /8 Ohm. I have a pair of their low efficient ribons (~88- 90 dB) with alnico 5 m...

R,How are you crossing over the SA tweeter?Cheerscv...

Dear CatThey do not shout or go hard when pushed.Metallic sounds such as cymbals and percussion instruments are the most life like.It also brings immediacy to the sound of speakers.Like you have said in another thread how speakers are the worst link,...

Dear SteveThe beauty of Plasma Tweeters are that they can reproduce 5k onwards to (I was told) 60kHz. I have a pair of the Coronas which I run in a tri amp set-up with independant remote volume control. My main speakers are full range S...
There's no plasma tweeter on the Cessaro. The tweeter is the TAD ET-703. The HK owner has a gold-coloured horn for the tweeter, but there's no plasma driver. I'm pretty sure the horn on the Lansche plasma tweeter is a good bit la...

Ok, I removed the series cap from the amp output and made it as it should be – pure parallel. To my great satisfaction the little “dirty inflictions” that I got in Vitavox are gone and now the S2 as clean as it should be. I presume in the former sett...

Below is a sketch of the main frame, that Russ made for me based on our original discussions many months ago, consisting of the support for the UB115 horns and missing some finishing details such as bevelled edges, top end feature, holes for hori...
Speaking of "blowing", I have also made the fatal-to-the-ribbon mistake of trying to gently blow a speck of dust off one of them. Don't try this at home!

No doubt …. there's still likely to be...

I was listening light night the Charles Ives’ Fourth Symphony by the kids of American Symphony Orchestra and Members of Schola Cantorum under the baton of probably 180 years old Leopold Stokowski. Ives music is not exactly my cap of tea but I hardly ...

BTW, I would like to mention one more opportunity for the folks who are playing with S2 driver.
There is another interesting tweeter option: use the HF section of the Tannoy’s dual concentric drivers (only form 50s-60s). The design of those drivers ...

Over the course of the last month we have a numerous communication with the RAAL’s Alex. With all my “accuracy” handling of the “Water Drop” tweeters I have eventually terminally damaged the ribbons on my left channel and I asked Alex to send me ribb...
I had today a conversation with RAAL’s Alex and he pinched to me a very interesting idea. He feels that I attenuate the outpit of my “Water Drop” too much. I have no doubts that I attenuate it as much as necessary and Alex ...
Well firstly on those, the tweeter is not offset to one side - it appears to be time aligned directly behind the midrange horn and upper bass unit. Secondly, that's a JBL 2405.
I do not know which driver the Living Voce us...

I have to admit I have no idea and did not experiment with matching horn loaded tweeter to big ,direct radiating "extended range' MF channel. I'm not sure it's doable. I was speculating on the reasons why the owner of Moscow instalation switched from...

Hi Romy, I agree with you that most speakers have some tilt-up treble response, maybe not on paper but subjectively so. I think this has to do with "beaming" of the tweeter. In real life sound in general (high frequencies included) becomes weake...

I am using the Celestion Axi-periodic compression driver in the KLIPSCH K402 horn which I have boosted considerably when I noticed that the top one and one-half octaves were barely working when playing music so I figured WHY NOT? and it works just f...

Here are some images how I resolved my EV-T350 tweeter along with a transition slope attenuator.

Mats,
I have my opinion on the subject of the objective truth of knowledge but it has nothing to do with the subject of HF sufficiency. What I was talking was way more primitive and banal. The acoustic-like concentration and dissipation of HF within...

Romy's quotes in blue:"...It feels that there is very little room for the tweeter to breathe. It is not the narrow firing tweeter and I think you might give to it a little bit more room..."Yes I was thinking the same thing, and the frame does offer p...

Why not try it? It "should" work to extend response, if nothing else. Just use the least in the way of caps you can get by with, to avoid "breathing". And it's not like you need the gain, if, as I recall, that tweeter is a 109 dB target.Of cou...

Most plasma tweeters rely on Klein ionophone. More interesting is reversible (act as microphone too) Ostroumov ionophone that unlike Klein does not produce RF noise. It uses 10kV polarisation voltage for electrodes and 100V for musical signal on ...

Hello Haralanov,It is hard to talk about sound, and define points: this is why the post is so long. Most systems I have lisitened to that measure a flat response have exagerated high frequencies and usually the midbass is a little shy, this might be ...

It is incredible how stupid sometimes our audio steps are. A few days ago I was complaining that sound of my T350 tweeter suddenly started to bother me but it was no the problem with the tweeter but rather the problem with my own moronity.

I tried the driver and generally I do like it’s sound a lot. It more sophisticated then Linaeum, it is more noble tonally and alike the Linaeum is seamlessly melts with Vitavox S2. In fact I am developing recently a theorem according to which a compr...
